How is a nuclear power plant in Somerset affecting Welsh wildlife?
It’s old news that the world needs to get its act together and move away from fossil fuels and move to renewable and low-carbon ways to produce the energy we need. Hence, the UK Government have commissioned the French company EDF to build a new nuclear power plant just across the Seven Estuary at Hinckley known as Hinkley Point C.

Mauve stinger
This species can pack a powerful sting, so be sure not to get too close!
Ecological Surveys, EIA and HRA
Surveys should be carried out by professional ecologists, registered with IEEM. When surveys involve protected species, such as bats, great crested newts or dormice, the surveyor should hold a license from Natural Resources Wales.
Dead man's fingers
These gruesome sounding creatures are actually a type of coral! They get their name as they branch out into lobes as they grow - making them look like fingers on a hand.
Fulmar
Related to the massive albatross, the fulmar is a gull-like bird that nests on rocky cliff edges. Don't get too close, though - it spits a foul-smelling oil at intruders.
