A Place Plan is a document that sets out local level planning guidance. It sits below a Local Development Plan (LDP), linking to the LDP policies, and other local plans. They are usually written by local people or town or community councils and can be adopted by a local planning authority as Supplementary Planning Guidance.
Place Plans are a relatively new mechanism for local planning. They can cover issues such as new housing, community facilities, traffic management and improvements for nature and outdoor spaces. Planning Aid Wales have produced a step by step guide to producing a Place Plan, with the aim of helping communities to have a say in local planning issues.
