We have a huge opportunity in Wales to change the way we manage our land through the newly introduced Agriculture Bill. Nearly 90% of Wales is farmland, therefore it is really important that we get this Bill right. The Welsh Government is changing how and what is funded in Welsh farming with public money; given how much nature has been depleted in recent times, this is a once-in-a-generation chance to make sure our farming practices are working with nature, and not against it. 1 in 6 species in Wales are under threat of extinction; we cannot afford to sit back and let nature disappear.
We’re asking people to write to their Members of the Senedd (MSs) to make sure they create a strong bill for future generations; One that will put nature first and recognise farmers as the vital stewards of the land that they are. By putting sustainable food, healthy habitats and healthy ecosystems first, we can ensure Wales is tackling the nature and climate emergencies in the best way possible.
If you want to join the fight to recover nature, you can use our easy e-action to write to your MS, and let them know why this is important to you!
Click here to take action today!
The e-action will be asking MSs to make sure:
- Farmland wildlife and the environment are restored and maintained.
- Harmful releases that are contributing to climate change and river pollution are significantly reduced.
- Imported animal feeds linked to destroying the natural world overseas are no longer used.
- Opportunities to diversify food production for local markets are developed.
- Opportunities for community ownership and new entrants into farming are supported as well as better public access and engagement in land use decisions.
Campaign with us today by sending your MS a letter and let them know that you support a strong agricultural bill that will bring nature and wildlife back to our countryside!
